It refers to wicked Haman's plot.� Haman, a high-ranking minister of the Persian King, drew lots to determine the best day to eliminate the Jewish people living in the Persian Empire during the days of King Achashverosh (Xerxes I, Fourth Century BCE). In addition to the story of Queen Esther, her uncle Mordechai and the fall of wicked Haman, the book also includes information about the traditional observances of Purim, which include hearing the Megillah read at the synagogue, charity to the poor, and much more.
[Author's Note: According to the Scroll of Esther, Mordechai was actually Esther's cousin rather than her uncle. However, as Morderchai adopted and raised young Esther upon the demise of her parents, The Purim Story assumes that the young Queen respectfully addressed her cousin as "Uncle Morderchai."]

Purim may be our most colorful holiday and it certainly lays a good claim to
being the most fun. That is why so many retellings of the story are filled with
colorful illustrations and told in sprightly rhyme. Sarah Mazor's version fits
that bill, too, but what gives this one a special twist is the section at the
end, which discusses the laws and customs of the holiday as these, too, are
taught in clever rhyme and are also accompanied by illustrations. The
story-in-rhyme is preceded by a slightly more serious prose explanation of the
holiday's history as well as a glossary.
Recommended for ages 3-8

Loved it - Highly Recommended

The abridged portrayal of events that commemorate the holiday of Purim in “The Purim Story” is absolutely adorable. I especially appreciate its focus on Queen Esther and Mordechai rather than on the fate of Queen Vashti (the one who was eliminated for disobeying her husband), the hanging of Haman and his sons, and the fate of many others who planned to execute Haman’s evil plot. “The Purim Story” is told in cute rhymes appropriate for kids and the images are simple yet lovely. Most recommended. Enjoyed by all!!

Educational, enlightening and fun to read!

The Purim story is wonderful. I loved learning about the Jewish Holiday of Purim and the significance of it. When you read this educational rhyming story you'll find out what evil scheme,Haman, minister to the King of ancient Persia had planned. The beautiful Esther was chosen to be the king's bride, but she was forced to hide a secret. She became the hero when her Uncle Mordechai told her about the minister's horrid plan. She set out to thwart the scheme before it was implemented. Esther became a hero for her clever efforts. You and your children will delight in this story. You will learn how the Jewish people celebrate the Holiday of Purim every year and what makes this day truly amazing. I highly recommend this beautiful book. Children will also love the colorful illustrations. You will also enjoy the helpful, easily understood glossary of terms,with which you may not be familiar.The Purim Story is another triumph for gifted author/publisher, Sarah Mazor!

A Delightful and Educational Book!

This book tells the story of Purim and how Queen Esther saved the Jewish people in Persia from being killed by the evil Haman, the king's minister. The story is told in an easy to understand way for young children to comprehend. The rhymes are clever and engaging. The illustrations are beautifully done, colorful and very expressively detailed.
Children will love learning about Purim and the customs and observances of this holiday. It is a delightful and educational book that all schools and libraries should have. I thoroughly enjoyed learning about this Jewish holiday.
This is another outstanding book from MazorBooks synonymous with excellence in teaching children about good behavior and important life lessons.
