I love Ronan!

Turns out Veronica Wolff's Dark Craving was a novella! Goodreads had me thinking it was a novel with the book 5 tidbit, but it's under 100 pages, so novella! And yet it was still awesome to finally get inside Ronan's head! No matter how many times I may say it, I always gotta give kudos to our authors when they delve into writing from the male perspective. As a struggling, aspiring writer myself, I don't think I could be capable of such things, but Veronica is definitely one of those writers who pulls it off smoothly!

Yes, we finally get inside Ronan's head. We learn what drives him and what his motivations are. In the beginning, we see how he came to recruit Annelise and seeing something more to her. That she was different from the other girls he had to recruit. Then we are automatically jumped to present day and that is when we learn a whole helluva lot of info!

I can't remember precisely what went on in The Keep, been way too many books since then, but bits of it came back as events were mentioned in Dark Craving. So we learn what Ronan's been up to and how he's working for a different set of vampires. He wants to be with Annelise, but since she's bonded to Carden, she's out of his reach. But he will do anything for a chance to see her again, and that comes when he's given a most impossible task, kill Daugursson.

Dark Craving was a pretty fast paced read and I loved every minute of it! This is definitely one of those series that just captivates me and I am at a loss as to explain why. Annelise is part of the reason, as she was the sort of awkward heroine, but she has definitely grown into her own. And of course there's Ronan, and what's not to love about him! Especially his cover mode, swoon! He's right up there with Pepe for me! ;)

I am very much looking forward to the next installment in this series, Follow. Whether that's to be a full length novel or another novella has yet to be clear to me, especially since I assumed wrong with this one. But I definitely say do not pass this one up if you're reading the series. I feel like the events that occurred here are pretty important and are not to be missed when we journey back with the next release.

Simply Awesome

Oh. My. Stars. I simply devoured this one. So many answers. So many secrets. And so much goodness! Dark Craving is just as good as the other books in the series, if not even better. Getting into Ronan's head after all this time is beyond fascinating.

Ronan has remained one of my favorite characters of the series throughout all of the books, so getting into his head and finally getting some answers from him was fascinating. There was just an overflow of information readers get in this one - and I loved it.

All I know now is I want more story! This series remains one of my favorites - it is edgy and the stakes are high. Veronica Wolff doesn't hold anything back and she really pulls out all the stops with Dark Craving.

So worth it... simply amazing!

Secrets, lies and mysteries are revealed in Dark Craving.
Veronica Wolff left us with a cliffhanger in the last book and now we finally get some answers about our broodingly silent yet sexy Tracer Ronan. This novella is jammed packed with twists and turns from beginning to the very last page. If you love the Watchers series, and hot Scottish men like Carden and Ronan, you will not be disappointed. In fact Dark Craving will get you a little more insight into the story behind the mysterious Isle of Night and prepares you for what's to come.
This is definitely a must read.

About the Author
Author Don Lloyd is an electrical engineer now retired from Honeywell after 35 years in marketing, engineering, and project management. He has extensive experience in taking complex subjects and explaining how they work in terms understood by the general public. He is at his best when giving lectures describing how geothermal heat pumps work and why they are the ideal heating and cooling solution for homeowners. Prior to entering the geothermal world, he operated his own software consulting business as a Microsoft Certified Software Professional. He also served as an officer in the US Army. Don lives in the Hudson River Valley region of New York State with his wife, artist Martha Lloyd, in their new home where the oil trucks pass by but never stop.

Technical Advisor Lawrence A. Muhammad is an International Ground Source Heat Pump Association (IGSHPA) Certified National Trainer, having conducted numerous trainings throughout the US. As a community college professor, he teaches a wide variety of geothermal courses at three colleges in Michigan. Putting his teaching and training skills to work, Lawrence is also a licensed residential builder, an IGSHPA Accredited Installer, a NATE Proctor, and the designer / developer of the apprenticeship program for the Geothermal Innovations Gii4 proprietary heat exchanger. Understandable, affordable and easy to read information on geothermal for all consumers.

In my efforts to get understandable and easy to read information in the hands of consumers on green technologies, it is refreshing to see an affordable book come out on geothermal heating and cooling technologies. “Geo Power” is just that; affordable, understandable and richly illustrated.
When I received my copy, the first thing that caught my eye was the great illustrations. From the basics of how geothermal loops go into the ground to the comparisons between a refrigerator and a heat pump, the pictures tell a thousand words.
Don Lloyd’s book, “Geo Power” should be the first thing an individual considering geothermal should purchase to help them understand geothermal heating and cooling. I believe that after reading through its pages, it will become clear that geothermal heating and cooling is the best way to reduce energy consumption, reduce CO2 emissions, and increase our comfort in our homes and buildings, period.

Informative explanations

Good material written in a clear concise way. Definitely directed towards those in colder climates but the principles are explained clearly enough. It allowed me to learn enough to know that ground sourced heat pumps weren't for me but air sourced heat pumps may be useful for my location in rural Western Australia (hot & temperate climate).
If you want to be able to understand the technology and be able to have a discussion with suppliers, then I would recommend this book.

superb modeling

I usually don't buy books on model railroads, John Allen and George Sellio's books are exceptions, and hesitated in buying this one for a long time, after all, I have seen it in the magazines and on video. I was wrong, though, this book is great. I saved a bit on shipping with Amazon, and was pleased with that, but the book has a lot more in it than I would have expected. I find myself going back to it over and over, seeing different things each time. The book, I think, is very well thought out too. It isn't just a showcase of model pictures, but also a how to, like how he did the plastering for his scenery. With just under 300 pages, there is plenty to see.

Howard Zane's Life with Model Trains

Anyone who reads this book will be inspired - regardless of experience in the hobby. The photography is superb...and Howard's sometimes humorous narration is a joy. I highly recommend this to anyone who has an interest in model railroading...armchair or otherwise.

A great addition to a model railroaders library. This publication has top quality printing on the best paper, all bound into a top quality book. Howard Zane is a good writer, photographer and artist, who I feel is on par with the late John Allen.

About the Author
Donald J. Dahm is a professor at Rowan University. In 2004, Dr. Dahm received the Outstanding Achievement in Near Infrared Spectroscopy Award from the Eastern Analytical Symposium. He was selected in 2011 by Rowan students as the professor they most wanted to give “The Last Lecture,” an annual event based on Randy Pausch’s book. Don’s most recent book, coauthored with his son Kevin, is Interpreting Diffuse Reflectance and Transmittance: A Theoretical Introduction to Absorption Spectroscopy of Scattering Materials (2007).

Eric A. Nelson’s career spanned work as a chemistry instructor and as an elected officer and legislative representative for his faculty organization. His professional interests include research on reading comprehension in the sciences and measures of student mathematics achievement in preparation for study in chemistry. Prior to his retirement, he served on committees at the state and regional level working to raise academic standards and encourage the adoption of research-based curricula in STEM fields.

This is a very good book written in a Pseudo-Programmed Instruction format. You have to work your way through the book.
There are sufficient drill problems on most topics commonly found in Introductory General Chemistry text books.
The Brief Contents on...Page v...allows one to easily find the topics of interest for the required textbook. There is also a comprehensive Index.
The STOP sign labeled Practice Exercises included should/must be done before moving on.
The material is divided into Lessons, for example, "Word Problems."
The answers to Problems and a Review Quiz with answer are given at the end of each Chapter.
Each lesson is filled with Practice Problem Sets(A, B, C...). The answers are provided at the end of the respective Chapters.
If you have already taken a General Chemistry Course, make sure you have this book for the convenient review of most topics.
The final Chapter discusses Nuclear Chemistry. However, the book doesn't include Atomic Orbitals and Atomic Spectra. Consistent with this is that there is no discussion of absorption and/or emission spectra of atoms. However, in this instance it is not necessarily a shortcoming. The book is designed to emphasize the more classical topics in General Chemistry. There is also no direct discussion of colligative properties.

Except for the absence of Atomic Spectra, this book covers most of the expected topics of General Chemistry.
Based on the topics covered and the utility of the topics covered, this book is a solid introduction and/or review of classical General Chemistry. This is primarily a review/workbook of selected topics. Therefore, I am awarding it 5 stars.

About the Author
TUPAC SHAKUR was born in June 1971. At the age of 19 he released his first album, SEX PACKETS, with a band called Digital Underground. After one more DU record, he went solo, and the following five years were his most fruitful artistically. He released a number of classic records including 2Paccalypse Now and Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z. In 1995, after recovering from being shot five times during a robbery, he released the two-million copy hit ME AGAINST THE WORLD, and followed that up with the double CD ALL EYEZ, which sold 3 million copies. Shakur also appeared in a number of films, including the Jon Singleton film, POETIC JUSTICE. In September 1996, Tupac Shakur was murdered in Las Vegas. He was 25 years old.

Chapter One

My mother was a Black Panther and she was really involved in the movement.

Just black people bettering themselves and things like that. She was in a high position in the party which was unheard of because there was sexism, even in the Panthers. All my roots to the struggle are real deep. My stepfather at the time, Mutulu Shakur, he was also a well-known revolutionary. And then my godfather, Geronimo Pratt, he had a top official rank position with the Panthers on the West Coast.

There's racism, so when the Panthers hit, the government panicked and they felt like the Panthers were detrimental to American society. So they raided every Panthers' house, especially the ones who they felt like, could do damage as an orator. My mother was seven months pregnant, they put a match to the door and said "Fire, Fire!" And you know it's like five in the morning so my mother opened the door and they just burst in, put a shotgun to her pregnant belly and put a gun to her head and said, "Don't move, bah, bah, bah, you're under arrest." They treated them like less than humans.

My mother was pregnant with me while she was in prison. She was her own attorney. Never been to law school. She was facing three-hundred-some odd years. One black woman, pregnant, beat the case. That just goes to show you the strength of a black woman and the strength of the oppressed.

A month after she got outta prison she gave birth to me. So I was cultivated in prison, my embryo was in prison.

When I was a baby I remember one moment of calm peace, then three minutes after that it was on. I was named after this Inca Chief from South America whose name was Tupac Amaru. I think the tribal breakdown means "intelligent warrior." He's a deep dude. If I go to South America they gonna love me, I'm telling you. They know Tupac.

My mom is the bomb.

First I rebelled against her because she was in the movement and we never spent time together because she was always speaking and going to colleges and everything. I always used to feel that she cared about "the" people more than "her" people. And then, after that was over, it was more time spent with me and we were both just like, "You're my mother?" And she's like, "You're my son." So then she was really close with me and really strict almost.

She taught me how to be community orientated. And I think my mother taught me how to understand women a lot more than my peers can. I'm not uncomfortable around strong women. My sister is the bomb too. She's my biggest critic, she's real smart, funny as all hell.

I think that my mother, like Fred Hampton, Mark Clark, Harriet Tubman, they felt like they were laying tracks for the generation to come. Somebody has to break out and risk losing everything and being poor and getting beat down; somebody sacrifices.

But poverty, it's no joke. If there was no money and everything depended on your moral standards and the way you treated people, we'd be millionaires, we'd be rich. But since it's not like that, we're stone broke. And that's the only thing I'm bitter about is, growing up poor because I missed out on a lot of things. I can't always have what I want or even things that I think I need. I feel that my mother made a lot of decisions in her life -- she could have chose to go to college and been well off. But she chose to fight and make things better.

My mother, she's totally brilliant. Totally understanding and caring. And she's human -- I mean, she'll be wrong a lot but we can talk about it.

My mother taught me three things: respect, knowledge, search for knowledge. It's an eternal journey.

She always tells me that the payoff to her is that me and my sister grew up good and we have good minds -- but we just didn't have money.

Poverty. If I hated anything, it'd be that.

My father was a Panther.

I never knew where my father was or who my father was for sure. The times that I came up, it was the late sixties. They were still having free love, they was just hittin' what they was hittin'. My mother wasn't married, and she got pregnant and had me, and I didn't have a father.

My stepfather was a gangsta. A straight-up street hustler. He loved the fact that the Panthers would go to jail and wouldn't snitch. He didn't even care my moms had a kid. He was like, "Oh, that's my son." Took care of me, gave me money, but he was like a criminal too. He was a drug dealer out there doing his thing -- he only came, brought me money, and then left.

I hate saying this cuz white people love hearing black people talking about this. But I know for a fact that had I had a father, I'd have some discipline. I'd have more confidence.

Your mother cannot calm you down the way a man can. Your mother can't reassure you the way a man can. My mother couldn't show me where my manhood was. You need a man to teach you how to be a man.

When I was young I was quiet, withdrawn. I read a lot, wrote poetry, kept a diary. I watched TV all day. I stayed in front of the television.

It was when I was in front of the TV by myself, being alone in the house by myself, having to cook dinner by myself, eat by myself. Just being by myself and looking at TV, at families and all these people out there in this pretend world. I knew I could be part of it if I pretended too, So early on I just watched and emulated...and I just thirsted for that. I thought if I could be and act like those characters, act like those people, I could have some of their joy. If I could act like I had a big family I wouldn't feel as lonely.

Autobiography of a poetic genius....

Tupac has been dead for 7 years now, and despite many books being written about him, there has never been an official autobiography--until now. "Resurrection" is his official autobiography, entirely in his own words, and is written in cinematic fashion, starting with him as a young boy up until his rise as the biggest and most influential rap artist of all time.
In addition to the many unpublished lyrics and poetry here, fans also get many copies of various documennts here, including letters he wrote in prison, his lawsuit against the city of Oakland after being beat up by the cops, dozens of rare photos, scripts, and more. But most important is the autobiography itself, which shows a whole side of Tupac that the media seem to negelect. Often portrayed in the press as a "gangster", Tupac was far too intelligent, well read, revolutionary, and ahead of his time to be labeled as a mere gangster. He was leader, and activist, and in many ways, a PROPHET. Though he has become one of the biggest icons of our time, many people dont seem to realize just how powerful he was and still is.
This is THE essential Tupac book, as it is easily superior to any other Tupac book out there. Every Tupac fan should own this, and those who seek to understand him and his music better should also purchase this book.

First off I want to reply to the review called "I just don't understand" by a reader in MI. Why the hell did you only give it two stars? You didn't even say ONE DAMN THING AT ALL about this book. You admit you know nothing about Tupac, never read into anything about him. Do you even have this book? Did you ever look in this book? Apparently not since you admit you are ignorant. So why the hell would you rate a book that you have never even looked at? It's people like you that ruin these forums for reviews. All you do is say ignorant crap and admit you know nothing about him and give the book a low score. You didn't even say one thing about this book. Don't you know these reviews are about the products? This isn't a forum for you discuss your ignorant opinions. You are supposed to rate the product. Also, you want to know what he did for his community? He helped out poor kids that came from single-parent families and kids that came from households where drugs were a problem. He gave them food and shelter. He kept this quiet from the media because he didn't want people to think he was doing it just to make himself look better. He did it silently because he really cared for people. Also, his music helps people. Music is very therapeutic and all kinds of people can relate to the emotions that are evident in his music. That aside, I give this book 5 stars. If you want a biography look elsewhere. This is a book version of the film Tupac Resurrection. It contains his poems, letters, thoughts, and many pictures from his early years up until the end of his life. I think it's very interesting and encourage anyone who likes Tupac and admires his passion to get this book. It's very sad to think about Tupac when you go throw this book. It appears he's been wronged and been taken advantage of his whole life. Thankfully his passion, intelligence, and immense ability to express himself let us know who he is better. This book shares some of the passion that Tupac had and is indirectly a gift from him to us.

Off Da Chain!!

If you wanted to know anything about this phenomenal human being then pick up this book! It is totally awesome! There are so many original items in it. It's a must-have for his true fans and those just getting turned on to 'Pac. There's his lawsuit against the OPD, pictures after getting beat, the handwritten contract signed while he was in jail on sexual assault... just a whole slew of personal artifacts from the man himself. It's a treasure and a timepiece that those who really loved him, must own.

Best of the series so far!

I am loving the ice hockey star, Petey, from the early books, turned hero in this one. He is everything I could want in a romantic hero. Knows what he's good at, (oh and wait until you see what he is good at!) and knows what he's not so good at. Best part is, he knows what he wants - our heroine, Alison - the smart one. Which he's worried about since he, and their gang, consider him the "dumb jock."

There is a lot of good stuff going on in this story, but the sex stands out brilliantly. Hot, hot and hotter. If you liked the first two in this series, you are going to love this one.

Can't wait for the next book!

Not my favorite

I read The Worth series books by Mara Jacobs out of order. I am now glad I did because when I first I first met Alison as a therapist in Worth the Effort, I really liked her. She seemed like a great person. Then I went on to read the other Worth books--Worth the Drive, Worth the Weight, and Alison started to annoy me. She just didn't seem to have the demeanor of a therapist in her interactions with her friends. I guess I just envisioned her as being more thoughtful and less outspoken. Perhaps this was the author's intent--Alison has a very different personality than her friends and this needed to be shown.

Other reviewers said Worth the Fall was their favorite book and really liked the story of Alison and Petey (a hockey player) getting together. I was excited to read it, thinking I'd learn more about Alison and come to like her better. But sadly, that wasn't the case. I skipped most all of the intimate love scenes between her and Petey. And I never got the feeling they really liked each other past the intimacy, or even why they would. They seemed to have little in common and didn't have a tenderness between them. Their story does get revealed which explains their dynamic, but it still didn't endear me to either of them.

This story is well written, as are all the stories in the other books. I must admit I skip the love scenes precisely because they are so well written, if that makes any sense. I feel like I am intruding on a very private scene. They are much more detailed than your usual romance novel love scenes. No euphemisms for Ms. Jacobs.

The characters in all the books are believable. However, sometimes the love "push/pull" between the characters gets a little tedious, but the books are still fun to read and very engaging. I recommend them all. Worth the Fall just wasn't my cup of tea, I guess.

I do like the quotes that begin each chapter. They are always well chosen and poignant to the story. And sometimes quite funny. My favorite in Worth the Fall was one by Rodney Dangerfield--I'm quoting here from memory so forgive if not exact--"Sometimes I go to the fights and a hockey game breaks out."

If you've read the other books, you'll want to read this one too if only to learn more about what makes Alison the way she is.

I recommend all three books in this series. To me, this book was a roller coaster of emotions, and I couldn't put it down. I hated to "say goodbye" to the characters at the end of the series.

Life on Two Legs

I really enjoyed this book. I have been a 60's and 70's music nut forever so it was a joy to soak up Norman's insights and reflections. What a great little business he got rolling too - a good example of being one step ahead of the game, and working hard. Owning a few albums that were recorded at Trident added to the pleasure of the read. The chapters on when and how things came unstuck are interesting (Queen, overseas investments), and I felt I wanted to know more. The two other music bios I have read, Keith Richards and Bacharach, featured the unusual approach of including comment by certain key players in response to the author's take on things. I sort of wanted to hear, say Brian May's view, or those of the independant investors in Trident, just for balance. But I do warmly recommend this book to music crazies like me!

VERY unique story...

A very unique view of the Trident studio and their ways. Lots of great information never found in other books, and helps to balance the one-sided angry stories Queen have told all their lives (not unfounded, but Norman points out the extreme COSTS to do things for the band... they may not have known.) Great stuff on Bowie, Roy Thomas Baker, Ken Scott, many more big names from the studio's history. Great for fans of 60s 70s music!

A must read for the pop music enthusiast - plus a great personal story of Norman's journey

This was a fantastic insight into the music industry during such an important time. A great walk down memory lane. Norman's story is so unique and well written and certainly gives the consumer a whole new perspective on how things really worked during those years. Being a huge Queen fan, it was very interesting to see how the band evolved and the "behind the scenes" work and money that went into their success. Definitely a great Christmas gift for the music enthusiast !

About the Author
Brad Yates is co-author of the bestseller Freedom at Your Fingertips and a featured expert in the film The Tapping Solution. He is also a graduate of Ringling Bros. & Barnum & Bailey Clown College, and has performed children's theatre around the world. Brad spends much of his time tapping with people to help them live their best life possible. Sometimes he does this by phone, sometimes in live workshops, and sometimes in videos on YouTube. And sometimes he's learning to play the guitar (or other fun stuff). He lives in Northern California with his wonderful wife and their two magnificent children.

Brad's Done it Again!

I've known Brad Yates for years - and although we've never met face-to-face, I've spent hours on the phone with him, experiencing his 'tapping' know-how firsthand. This book, written for children yet powerful for adults too, is a brilliant foray into tapping with children. With this book, kids learn the power within themselves - to shift energies, and change their day-to-day life. How I wish I had this book when my boys were small - but guess what?! I'm buying them each a copy - even in their early twenties, they can appreciate the charm, and wisdom of this volume. Thanks, Brad, for all the wonderful things you continue to bring into the world!

For kids of all ages (and adults too)!

What a fun and smart way to introduce children (and adults) to the power of this tool they have at their fingertips! Every child will love the story and in the process easily learn to tap for the "yuckies". Parents and grandparents, there's no better gift to give your children or grandchildren than this. Imagine a whole generation of children learning to tap to clear their negative emotions and the impact that can have on our planet. Thank you Brad!

Teaching Children to Manage Emotions

I bought Wizard's Wish because it is a children's book about EFT and I love EFT. I expected a preachy, dull book with a forced story. The book sat on the shelf for a few months after I ordered it.

This evening, I read it to my eight year old son. What a delightful surprise! The story was engaging and the illustrations lovely. Magical tapping was introduced in an intelligent and easy to understand way.

I have tapped with my son many times. Yet when we got to the map of magical points at the end, he insisted that I read the points to him and tapped on them himself. (I usually tap for him.)

If you like to give your children tools for helping themselves, I also recommend you read Owie-Cadabra's Verbal First Aid for Kids: A somewhat magical way to help heal yourself and your friends by Judith Prager Simon. Owie shows kids how to talk to their friends or themselves when they are hurt.
