My Kindle version does not have page numbers!

This is a great textbook, author has a nice writing style. But, I only uses location numbers, hard to follow when the professor uses a page number for reference!!! Most textbooks you download have both page and location numbers these days. I would not recommend purchasing Kindle version for class until they upgrade to page numbers.

Worked well for my nursing class

The book had well organized material and worked perfectly for my nursing research class. The content helped me to write my own research paper with a proposed study for future research. Some definitions were a little vague, but I just used the internet to fill in the blanks.

Kindle Version does not have page numbers!!!

BEWARE!!!! The Kindle version of this book has NO PAGE NUMBERS. I sure wish they would have told me that before I purchased it for my kindle. It's an epic mess to try to find a specific mess. The kindle version is not worth the time, money or frustration.

Great book - one rather glaring flaw...

A must-have for serious McCartney fans. Well researched. Yeah, there are a lot of typos, but I can get over that. Not quite as good as Lewisohn's book on the Beatles recording sessions, but a welcome addition.

However, it doesn't have all of his recordings in it. It only has songs he wrote, which leaves many things missing. Also, only the first version of a song is included. So, for example, the remakes for Give My Regards to Broadstreet, live versions, etc. are all missing. This is a flaw if you're looking for the recording dates for all of his songs.

Even so, I am glad to have it.

Good if you can ignore English mistakes

It is a good reference book as you listen to the music or watch video. It is a fan made well researched material and I find it very helpful because all the post Beatles songs are given numbers and there are something new to discover every page. But the translation could use more editing as there are many simple mistakes and it is not easy to ignore. After all it is a book to keep all the time for each fan and it should not have been much trouble to ask native speakers to proofread. For that reason I could not give 5 stars.

Also it should be noted that it has no pictures at all other than cover photo.

LONG AWAITED

For years, I've wanted a book such as this. I only have two complaints. The text needs to be larger and bolder and I wish the songs were listed in alphabetical order, instead of chronologically & grouped according to the year of recording.
But, overall, it's a great book and I'd love to see similar books on the solo works of the other three Beatles.

     Susan Branch is the American author of the 13 HEART OF THE HOME lifestyle books, with over four million in print, all of them hand-written and watercolored ~ books about the home arts of cooking, gardening, homemaking, family, best friends, entertaining and the little things that make life sweet.     Susan has now added a three-part series to her list, all of them illustrated memoirs filled with old photos, watercolors, quotes and recipes.  The last in the series came first (in 2013): A FINE ROMANCE, Falling in Love with the English Countryside.  The two prequels to that are, first: THE FAIRY TALE GIRL (pub date Oct. 2015, and then: MARTHA'S VINEYARD, ISLE of DREAMS (pub date May 2016).      To celebrate the 30th year of her first book, Heart of the Home, it will be reprinted with an updated cover and 16 new pages and published in June 2016.     Born and raised in Southern California,  Susan followed her heart to the Island of Martha's Vineyard in her 30s, "unable to live any longer without four seasons and picket fences as everyday architecture." Just one more five star review for any doubters out there!

It seems almost pointless to add yet another five star review to the many that are already posted. And I am not sure that I can really add much to what has already been said. But here I am -- writing 'yet another five star review' because I absolutely LOVED this book! I bought the trilogy ["Fairytale Girl", "Martha's Vineyard" and "A Fine Romance" ] together as I didn't discover them until they had all been published. These books are a huge departure from Susan Branch's celebrated cookbooks and frankly I wasn't expecting to love them as much as I did. But twenty pages into the first one I was smitten; I found them very hard to put down and in fact stayed up way too late reading, even when I came to the end of one. (I 'needed' to know what happened next!)

This second volume is absolute magic. I have always loved New England even though I have only ever been there once, on a magical trip to Maine one summer with a daughter and two of my granddaughters. But I have always wanted to experience it for myself in person and this book let me do that as closely as I possibly could without actually being there. Susan manages to capture so very much of the ambiance of her surroundings while at the same time sharing her personal story in ways that are poignantly endearing. I felt like her best friend as I read through the pages, something that many authors have attempted to evoke in their writing but have failed to do. Interspersed throughout are her utterly charming water color pictures which really are worth a thousand words!

If you are an armchair traveler, an autobiography lover, an admirer of artistic talent or even just a curious reader, I suspect that this book is one you might really enjoy. I hated for it to end; in fact I plan on reading it again in the very near future. It inspired me, it encouraged me. it took me out of my own little life's frame of reference and most of all it made me love New England even more than I already did. I hope that it will do the same for you should you decide to read it for yourself..

A Kindred Spirit

With honesty, courage, and beauty Susan Branch has written another wonderful book called Martha's Vineyard, Isle of Dreams. This is one woman's journey of independence, self discovery, and facing of fears. It is a story of perseverance, finding your dreams, and enjoying the little things in life that make it beautiful. All of Susan Branch's books make life more beautiful and her latest is no exception. It's full of wonderfully detailed watercolors and photographs that, as a reader, you wish you could open a door and walk inside. The writing is fantastic, just imagine having a conversation with your best friend because that's what Susan's writing is like: comfortable, witty, honest, an eye for the little details and exchanging of recipes. This book belongs with other beloved classics and kindred spirits of the literary world like Anne of Green Gables, Little Women, and Bridget Jones's Diary to name a few. This book will be a heartfelt inspiration to a person of any age because everyone must go on a journey to find their true self at some point in life. This book is part of a trilogy, the other two are The Fairy Tale Girl and A Fine Romance:Falling in Love with the English Countryside, both of which are also amazing books and highly recommended. Susan Branch has also written numerous cookbooks that showcase her art and delicious recipes. Read Martha's Vineyard, Isle of Dreams, you won't be sorry!

Susan Branch is an absolute treasure

I discovered Susan Branch at my local library. It was happenstance I'd only breezed by the shelf on the way to pick up my young studious child. I immediately fell under her spell and needed to own all of her books to treasure always. I've enjoyed revisiting these books each fall. They awaken my sleeping artist, they remind me of the humble treasures we at times take for granted like our homemaking skills the smell of fresh baked goods and what women can achieve when we follow our hearts desire. I'm so pleased with the ownership of my beautiful copy of Martha's Vineyard and have a sneaking suspicion a lovely husband of mine ordered me a fresh copy of Fine Romance and the 2017 calendar to place under the Christmas Tree. Richard didn't see the Rolling Stones live in the 1960s although his mother did take him to see the 1964 Beatles Christmas Show - he was four years old. Richard has seen the Rolling Stones live 20 times.

Unique collection of anecdotes from the fan's perspective

We've had books on the Stones impact from every music critic, ex-bandmate and engineer around, but never one from the fans perspective. This is a wonderful book that captures the Stones rise from the tiny clubs of London to the festivals of the late '60s from the eyes of the people who were actually there, with endless touching, interesting details and stories from the people who outraged their parents, hitchhiked and risked-life-and limb to show their devotion to the Stones. It reminds you just how daring and outrageous the band really was to those innocent times, and an important addition to Stones literature (and I don't just say that because Houghton included a couple of my mother's own Stones stories in the bargain!).

wonderfully heart-warming story of the bond between friends.

Sally Stowe is a divorced mother of a teenage daughter, Lara, living in a small community on the outskirts of Calgary. She shares joint custody of her daughter with her ex-husband, Neil. Neil has anger management issues, but he'd never been physically violent toward Sally. She's a distinguished attorney, as well as having a shot at a judicial seat that'll soon be available. She'd lost her best friend, Beth, to cancer six months ago. Beth had been the one person she'd always been able to count on to be there for her. Her death had come as a devastating blow.

Colin Foster is a Crown Prosecutor. After losing his wife, Beth to cancer, he had been letting things slide. He knew it was time to start dealing with all her things but still wasn't quite ready to deal with it. She'd been gone for six months, and there was still a container of her favorite yogurt in the refrigerator. He'd attended law school with both Beth and Sally. He'd even asked Sally out a few times. Once, he'd given her a ride home and they'd ended up making love. However, Sally found out that he'd gone out with Beth several times. Beth was really into Colin. Therefore, Sally refused to see him anymore.

Neil let himself into Sally's home. He was there under the pretense of having her sign the paperwork for Lara to obtain a passport. However, he'd already heard about her being a front-runner for the judge position that would be opening, and he was jealous and angry over it. Sally was used to his tirades. It had been the main reason for their divorce. They usually escalated into violent behavior, but he'd never hit her before, so she was stunned when he hit her, knocking her to the floor causing several injuries. After he'd left, Sally had enough presence of mind to call somebody for help. In the past, she'd always called Beth. This time was no different, only Beth wasn't there anymore. Beth's widower, Colin found Sally in her kitchen, where Neil had left her. He doesn't believe her story that she'd accidentally fallen. He'd seen Neil's pen on the counter and knew there was more to this "accident" than Sally was telling. As Colin and Sally talked after returning from the hospital, they both realized there was still a sexual spark between them. It hadn't gone away even after all these years.

A LITTLE SECRET BETWEEN FRIENDS is a wonderfully heart-warming story of the bond between friends. It is also an extremely poignant look into domestic abuse. C.J. Carmichael has done a tremendous job of bringing domestic abuse into the open with this book. I was fascinated by Sally's life. She's such an intelligent woman, yet she'd been beaten down mentally by Neil's abuse. Even having been divorced for more than a decade, she wouldn't date a man because of fear of how Neil would react. When Colin figures out that Lara reminds him of his mother, he starts to wonder if she could really be his daughter. This book is emotionally charged and thought provoking. I alternated between anger, awe, fascination, and a disquieting sense of calm. Even though Beth was no longer alive, she was an amazingly loving person, and I couldn't help but feel empathy for the love she shows for both Sally and Colin. This is definitely a book well worth reading.

An intricate tale wrapped up in a quick read.

I actually first read this book years ago, and lost my first copy, later finding another copy at a used book store and repurchased it.

What is funny is that a few months ago I picked out another CJ Carmichael book as a Kindle first book.

Back to the review. This book is not all blossoms and roses. Sally's ex is a total creep. And there are parts to do with Colin's late wife Beth (Sally's best friend) that will make you bawl your eyes out. Sally's daughter is wonderfully developed in the story (for some reason at the moment I don't remember her name, this is a hint I really need to read this book again!) CJ Carmichael wove an intricate tale with this one.

A Job Well Done for People Starting a Lean Journey

I bought this book about a week ago and just finished it. I think M/S Manos and Vincent have done an excellent job of putting together the "Lean Bronze Certification" BOK at single place and in the same sequence as outlined in professional bodies' guidelines. I found several uses of "The Lean Handbook"; first, the book is specifically useful if you are a busy professional preparing for certification exam but do not have the luxury of time to read all five recommended books. In fact, if someone is closely following extensive reading books list would have noticed that the fifth added book is "Lean Hospital" Lean Hospitals: Improving Quality, Patient Safety, and Employee Engagement, Second Editionby Mark Graban - an extraordinary text on application of lean principals in healthcare and 2nd edition of all time lean classic "Gemba Kaizen" Gemba Kaizen: A Commonsense Approach to a Continuous Improvement Strategy 2/Eby Masaki Imai has just been released. There is no substitute of insight gained through reading actual books but "The Lean Handbook" is your best bet if you are preparing for exam.

Another use of "The Lean Handbook" is its' use for the people who are starting their lean journey and have several sources of information yet struggle with some basic lean concepts contrary to traditional operations management.

Comparing it with other professional resources (PMP, ASQ Six Sigma GB and BB) this is one of the DRYEST and HORRIBLE in readability. Incredibly long paragraphs with little techniques for increasing retention.

Never found a textbook so frustrating!

The definitions for terms are very long and drawn out. Examples piled on top of examples make chapters very long, drawn out and distracting to read and comprehend. Sentences are also long and drawn out with too many added prepositions. Over all, just hard to stay focused on a particular topic.

A great addition to your library

This is one of the most COMPLETE JKD books I have ever read. It has Jun Fan Gung Fu, grappling, kali, kickboxing, and everything else anyone could ever want in a JKD book. Also, it is VERY well written and has very helpful pictures. Mr. Balicki knows his stuff and it shows in this book. It has very helpful drills and techniques that can be easily learned and applied. It also has a cool (but not as helpful as I would have liked) section on handling group attacks. I highly recommend it!

Eclectic and interesting book

I'm a pretty eclectic martial artist myself, having trained in Okinawan, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Filipino, and western systems, including empty-handed and weapons-based styles, so the very eclectic aspect of this book didn't bother me as much as some people. For me it's all "sauce for the goose," as they say. If you have primarily trained in one or two arts, this book will expose you to some other concepts, which is fine, too. For me, the most important aspect of the book was the section devoted to multiple attackers. From my own experience in training and teaching martial arts, this area is one of the most neglected. Other than the classic Nakayama and Draeger book on defense against multiple assailants, which of course was Shotokan-based, and Bucksom Kong's Tiger-Crane set Hung Gar book, which showed some applications of the form, there are few books on the market covering situations with multiple attackers. But these scenarios should be practiced also, especially by advanced students who are already compentent defending man-on-man with one attacker.

This book is a must for any serious JKD Student. While it tends to be a little too philosophical it has great drills and training tips for any JKD practioner. I am an Asst. Instructor in JKD and I can tell you that I use a lot of the material from this book when I teach. Trust me get this Book!
